This post has taken me a while to write and I’m sorry. I have no excuse……..I really have nothing better to do.

I have posted the photos Here in a separate gallery. Let me know if you prefer this or having the photos in the Blog entry.

Tug and Kelda and Hannah came up and stayed at my mums house in Matlock this weekend. Tug and kelda were supposed to be there for 7 or 8 ish on the friday evening but I got a call from Tug at 3pm to say that he was still in Cornwall!! That said they proceeded to drive all the way up and arrived at 11…just in time for a beer.

We were blessed with the weather on Saturday and Managed to do a circular walk of sorts from Monsal Head to Ashford and back. It is a beautiful walk and I have done it a lot but I still enjoy it every time. I also forget the way everytime and I am one of those people that keeps msaing….” we are just around the corner!!” I had planned on taking a picture to show you but for some reason I didn’t.

It was a bit cloudy when we set off but the clouds cleared and the sun was shining as we arrived in Ashford in the water.
After our walk we stopped at the Pack Horse inn in Little Longstone for lunch which was mighty filling. Tug had moaned almost continuously that he was hungry but shortly after lunch he started moaning that he was too full.

Some people are never happy!!

After Monsal head we went to Froggat edge. I go there as often as I can when I am home as the views are absolutely fantastic. There are few places that I have been in England where you get such a huge landscape spread out before you as the sandstone comes to an abrupt stop. It is especially beautiful when there is snow on the hills but I guess you will have to wait until winter to see that.

Not happy ending our romp around the countyside at Froggatt we decided to go to the Ladybower and Derwent Dams. I don’t know why really………..after all they are just a couple of big walls and a couple of lakes!!! For those of you that don’t know the valleys that were flooded to create these reservoirs had villages and people in them and everything. I suppose if the water was clear enough you could dive down and go inside someones house.

Finally we made it back to Matlock where my mother had put together a huge roast Beef dinner and we somehow managed to eat our way through that as well. I suppose it was the fact that we had spent all day walking.
I think initially we were going to go out and have a few drinks and sample the night life of Matlock but after all the food and the excercise all we managed were a couple of beers in a bar across the road and back home for bed. Some of us couldn’t actually stay awake until bedtime and fell asleep where we were.
